I just wanted to suggest this heart-warming-holiday-feel-good film.

Hi all,
I just got off the phone with Senators Smith and Wyden’s offices to urge
them to vote no on S 1959. Please visit the American Everyman wordpress site for more info, but here’s just a taste of what they’re saying is being proposed:
“If this bill is passed, and becomes law, your words and actions could be considered terrorism. S 1959 EVISCERATES FREE SPEECH, and empowers the govt. to declare ANYTHING they deem an “extremist belief system”, instantly make you a terrorist, resulting in stripping of US citizenship, torture, and/or execution, with no habeas corpus rights, no ability to challenge even in the US Supreme Court.”
And while there is no direct language that suggests Americans will be stripped of their citizenship and tortured, I do find it odd that we need a law to classify domestic ideologies as terrorism. As for the government’s concerns about violence, the last time I checked there were a whole myriad of laws that prohibit setting off bombs and killing people. My concern is that when we start classifying ideology as correct or illegal then we run into some very dangerous territory regarding thought crimes. Finally, given this administration’s record on everything from NSA domestic wiretapping to after-the-fact search warrants, I don’t think we should sit by and just expect that this government has our best interests in mind. I know American Idol won’t be affected, but what if you wake up and have your own thought some day?
In the end, you should probably Check the Bill out for yourself.
And finding your Senator’s phone # shouldn’t be a problem because they’re listed right here.
so anyways, me and the rest of the crew at chiasmus press just released a new book, Nightmare in Silicon by Collette Phair.
i pretty much hand picked this book for our first book competition because it represents a shift into smart, literary cyberpunk that needs better representation in the indie press world. besides, albeit creepy, Nightmare is an erotically charged cultural commentary of current trends placed two minutes into the future. i mean they’re now cloning monkeys for chistsakes.
here’s what Alan Moore, author of V For Vendetta had to say about the book — “A toxic-shock torrent of bad energy and beautiful language, Collette Phair’s ‘Nightmare in Silicon’ is recklessly brave and driven writing, brimming with fluorescent style and startling ideas. Hers is a strong, new voice that demands and deserves to be listened to.”
Nightmare in Silicon is available at amazon.com. so what are you waiting for?
so the big news is that me and the rest of the crew at chiasmus press will be
publishing a new book by kathy acker and mckenzie wark. we had a chance to talk about the book with the executor of her estate, and literary force in his own right, matias viegener during our monthly chiasmus podcast.
